Condolences to the family and friends of music pioneer Dick Scott who passed away on August 29 after a long illness. Scott was a manager and helped in the success of such acts as New Kids On The Block, Boyz II Men and many others.

Longtime record executive Richard "Dick" Scott passed away Tuesday, August 29, 2006 after a long illness in Los Angeles. Most of you would have crossed paths with Dick in his more than 50 years in the entertainment industry. He was an extraordinary manager to many stars over the years and was responsible for the success of acts such as New Kids On The Block, Boys II Men and many others.
In addition, he was a trailblazer, launching some of the early corporate/brand marketing deals in this industry. He also co-produced a theatrical play on the lives of The Hutchinson Sunbeams, later renaming themselves The Emotions. The play, "Bigger Than Bubblegum" became a hit touring musical.

page 8, ...For you LA cats you can go to Universal News Stand 1655 N. Las Palmas, Conner of Hollywood Blvd. --They may have some issues late tonight or tomorrow

for you, Not sure if Tower or Virgin get them before Monday, But Monday is Labor Day.

An early proponent of corporate/brand marketing within the music industry, Richard "Dick" Scott was also a savvy manager whose diverse client roster included New Kids on the Block (NKOTB), Boyz II Men, New Edition, Tiffany, Teddy Riley and Doug E. Fresh.
Starting out as assistant station manager and merchandising director at sister Boston radio stations WCHB and WCHD, Scott segued to Motown Records as assistant to founder and president Berry Gordy.
Joining CBS Records in 1973 as director of administration in the then-newly created special markets division, Scott and fellow CBS executive LeBaron Taylor developed strategies that helped improve the marketing and promotion of black music.
